What Guests Are Saying
Voyageurs National Park offers stunning scenery, spacious and well-maintained campsites, and a variety of wildlife sightings, making it a fantastic destination for camping. The reservation system is convenient, though some users find it cumbersome and prefer the old method of finding campsites. Despite minor inconveniences like overgrown trails and occasional maintenance issues, visitors report enjoyable experiences and express eagerness to return.

Been going here for years; the boat landings are well maintained and people are generally polite about taking turns. Campsite was in good shape, although latrine needed a dumping. We go for the quiet and opportunity to camp at a site that is more isolated; however, VOYAGEURS seems to be getting busier. We experienced houseboats daily setting up across the small bay although it is not a designated houseboat site. One group told us an outfitter recommended the site; not sure it meets the 200 yard minimum. A couple houseboat groups were loud party people….yelling, probably drinking, loud music. Also people fishing often came trolling right next to our dock. Asked one group very politely to not come so close as our dogs were getting stressed and we wanted privacy; (they were within 5’ of the dock) his response was an angry ‘ we can fish wherever we want’ so I just walked away. VOYAGEURS is big and we realize that rangers can’t patrol everywhere; but with ‘bad characters’, you’re on your own out there; our cell phones had no service.

We hiked to backcountry site B5 at Cruise Lake. Reserving a water taxi was expensive, but we had an incredible 2 nights with no other people around once we were dropped off. Caught a lake trout, saw beavers and loons, and heard wolves. Milkyway sky at night. Bug head nets were helpful for the hike in and out. Enjoyed paddling the canoe each day. Be sure to reserve that as you will need the code for the lock.

Campsite was very nice for our family. The only big issue is that the outdoor pivy was full. It was not fun using this at all. Other than that, the mosquitos were bad in the morning and for about an hour at dark. Quiet area and off the main boat channel!

Excellent campsite! Clean, good layout, beautiful view of the sunrise on the lake. Only downfall is no dock and a sand beach, I pulled close to 10lbs of sand out of the boat after being there 4 days. However, the sand beach was welcoming on the hot afternoons for swimming!

Beware of a large rock not visible when approaching Ingersoll Cove campsite. We hit it coming in and found it while swimming. It’s several feet across and about 18 inches below the water level as of 8/1. Once we knew it was there we could approach from the right hand side and miss it.

Voyageurs never disappoints, even on a rainy day. I have been coming here for years and cannot get over the beauty of the park. Some of the sites could use a little TLC but overall wonderful! What could use a major overhaul is the reservation system. Very confusing and difficult to navigate. I visited the park twice this summer, and each time could not get the "print reservation" button to go live. I know there must be something it wanted me to do first, but I tried everything and I sure couldn't figure it out.

We were at this site from 7/31 to 8/4. The boat landing area was a couple hundred yards from the campsite. The trail was cleared and easy to locate, however you have to cross uneven terrain to include exposed tree roots, angled rocks, one set of stairs and multiple hills. But once you get to the site the south facing views are phenomenal! As far as the Norther lights we were not able to see them because the woods to the north were to thick.
The fire pit is on an angled slab of rock and it is hard to find a flat spot to put chairs. The tent pads are very nice and both give awesome south facing views of the lake. The vault toilet is not to far from the site and it was in a heavily wooded area for privacy. We were able to put two 48 quart coolers, a Coleman cook stove, 5 gallons of water in one locker and a tone of miscellaneous stuff.
The only reason I took one star was the distance from the landing to the site was more than expected. The weather can change in an instant, so bring extra rope and tent stakes incase the wind picks up or a storm blows in.
The fishing was great and the trip was on my bucket list for a long time. We will be going back to VNP!

We had a great time on Wolf Pack Island West. They seem to have moved site 46 to the old site 47? Only one site on the island now. The fishing was pretty good, the water was 73-74 degrees, and thankfully a strong southerly breeze often kept the bugs away.
