What Guests Are Saying
Voyageurs National Park offers stunning scenery, spacious and well-maintained campsites, and a variety of wildlife sightings, making it a fantastic destination for camping. The reservation system is convenient, though some users find it cumbersome and prefer the old method of finding campsites. Despite minor inconveniences like overgrown trails and occasional maintenance issues, visitors report enjoyable experiences and express eagerness to return.

Great big-water canoeing. Be sure to pay attention to the weather, as waves can be pretty intense.

My husband and I stayed at the backcountry campsite on Quill Lake at the end of September. We had never done any backcountry camping before so we were a little nervous going into it. We hired Phil at Pine Tree Cove to water taxi us to the Locator Lake trailhead. He was amazing to work with and we were so thankful for his service and for answering all our crazy questions. The two mile hike to Locator Lake was beautiful, the fall colors were just starting to show up, but took longer than we expected carrying all of our gear. The canoe ride was super simple to navigate and afforded us stunning views of nature. We had to portage for a half-mile in between War Club and Quill Lakes which was probably the worst experience of our entire trip. We decided to carry our packs one trip and then go back for our canoe on a second trip. The ground was very mucky in some areas which made it incredibly difficult to walk without getting stuck. Once we got to our lake and finally to the cutest little island campsite, it was more than worth it. We had both Quill and Loiten Lake to ourselves and loved how serene and secluded the campsite was. Voyageurs is certified by the International Dark Sky Association and the view of the stars at night from the canoe was an experience I will never forget. Besides the tough portage, which is a right of passage for the adventurer, we could not have asked for a better experience.

Reserving the backcountry campsite was super easy and there is little competition, unlike other NP's. We stayed at Cruise Lake and Ek Lake campsites and both are excellent, with nobody around, with a great view and an access to an optional canoe (which is a MUST!)

You asked for an awful lot of repeat information when I came back a second time.

Jensen Bay is a GEM!!! The dock and the new stairs really make this site even better then ever!! We have stayed several times over the years and it gets better ever time!! The protection of the bay helps with most storms and the clear view to the North really helps with star gazing and northern lights if the happen. Nice and deep off the dock both for the boat and swimming!! LOVE IT!!!

The actual permit system really rocks. The trouble I find is moving from the home page to where you actually reserve the permits. It is not as intuitive as it could be. Thank you!

Not nearly enough parking at the Lake Kabetogama Visitor Center boat ramp, particularly for vehicles with trailers.

Spent 6 days 5 nights on lake Namakan. We decided to rent a pontoon boat because of the amount of supplies required . Went to Kettle Falls and had an excellent walleye sandwich. Stopped in the Ash River Visitor Center and had the most wonderful conversation with the Volunteer Ranger. Caught fish but not enough for a meal. Great time
