What Guests Are Saying
Voyageurs National Park offers stunning scenery, spacious and well-maintained campsites, and a variety of wildlife sightings, making it a fantastic destination for camping. The reservation system is convenient, though some users find it cumbersome and prefer the old method of finding campsites. Despite minor inconveniences like overgrown trails and occasional maintenance issues, visitors report enjoyable experiences and express eagerness to return.

As a person who likes to reserve the same site each year because it has familial ties (Mio) I did not like the 8 day release stipulation this year. I understand the reason for short term releases but it hurt my heart that the site my grandparents founded and all I have left of those memories was unavailable to me. We did end up camping there but had a backup reserved that we cancelled, which did not get used that weekend.

Beautiful site. Simple to find, tucked away in a corner of William's Island, so quite private. Not a ton of boat traffic, but some. Fire pit is out on a rock overlooking the water and perfect for evening fires. A nearby island provides a nice windbreak and the view to the west allows for amazing sunsets. The previous campers left us some deadfall kindling to help get a fire going. Highly recommend location.

With only a seven day window to book the Johnson Bay site, we had to find an alternative to guarantee a campsite when we were available to visit Voyageurs.
The site reserved was fine, but not as ideal for the planned day paddle to Kettle Falls.
Why the seven day restriction on reserving certain sites?

The campsite was pristine when we arrived. The rocks had been raked and the firepit had no leftover ashes. The cleaning staff did a wonderful job and it is clear they take pride in their work!

Parking at the Crane Lake boat launch is hit or miss. The parking lot was packed with cars that had no trailer hitches, all parked in the truck trailer spots. 2 boat trailer spots were taken for several days by some one parking and selling their motor home and a covered trailer. It may even still be there. I'm very disappointed with how the boat launch is monitored. It's unnerving to make a reservation and then be unable to find a parking spot due to non-park usage vehicles.

We arranged a water taxi to take us out to Loon Cove where we spent 4 nights camping and 3 days of paddling around in our kayak. It was quiet and the cove was protected. We were able to leave our truck and trailer in the Visitor Center parking lot. We thoroughly enjoyed our time.
