What Guests Are Saying
Sandy Lake is a well-maintained campground with clean facilities, friendly staff, and a variety of activities, making it a favorite for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The large, quiet sites and beautiful surroundings enhance the camping experience, while the convenient access to boating and swimming is a significant plus. Some visitors noted issues with campsite proximity and minor facility improvements, but the overall atmosphere is inviting and enjoyable.

I have been visiting this campground since I was a child. It’s a fantastic place to stay and you can tell the rangers and camp hosts put a lot of work into taking care of it. It has barely changed in the last 30 years, in a good way. This place will forever be my favorite place to camp.

Great place for small rigs! Shoreline fishing isn’t the best, get out on the water.

Beautiful campground, loved the site sizes and privacy.
We will be back, however, for an Army Corp of Engineers campground, diesnt quite meet the expectations we have experienced with, Iowa, Kansas, etc.
We did leave a day early as the neighbors that moved in across the street, had a dog that would not shut up!!!
Dont expect total quiet as we too have a dog, but this one would not stop barking.
Also the dirt road coming in was horrendous, as well as the dump station in our location.
Like I said nice campground, just a few mishaps 😊

Busy weekend, however the campground was peaceful. The waterfront sites are close together, but still very spacious, they have docks for each site. The north campground has really good separation between sites. My pup and I were in site 11 waterfront. No dogs allowed on beach, but ranger said, I could toss the ball for him just to the left of the beach and next to the dock. I loved it here, hope to return sometime.

First time at Big Sandy it won’t be our last. Nice well kept large sites on the B side. No showers and clean pit toilets but cross the bridge to the A side for clean hot showers, flush toilets, and laundry.
