What Guests Are Saying
Sandy Lake is a well-maintained campground with clean facilities, friendly staff, and a variety of activities, making it a favorite for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The large, quiet sites and beautiful surroundings enhance the camping experience, while the convenient access to boating and swimming is a significant plus. Some visitors noted issues with campsite proximity and minor facility improvements, but the overall atmosphere is inviting and enjoyable.

Our favorite place to visit each summer at least once. This year, we’re going twice. Clean and has a little bit of something for everyone in our household of six to enjoy. From fishing to playing volleyball.

Nice campgrounds. The campground north of the river has more spacious campsites. The south campground is more scenic and has better facilities.

Wonderful place for kids. Campsites are a little close together.

We stayed at the camper cabin Monday-Friday. The site was nice but the cabin was a disappointment compared to the MN State Park cabins. There is a top and bottom double bed size bunk and a triple twin bed size bunk. The ladders have nowhere to grip at the upper bunk, making getting down difficult. The steps are also far apart, obviously made for a tall person. The bottom bunk of the twin beds is basically a mattress on the floor. No ceiling fan, no chairs - state park cabins have a four person table with benches set up. There was a vacuum, but a broom and dust pan would make more sense. There is an exterior light at the peak of the roof that appears to be set for sundown to sunup. I wish we could have shut it off.
The only showers are in the other part of the campground, quite a hike. It seems like common sense, and be more accommodating, to build one on this side as well. All the restrooms and vault toilets were kept clean and stocked.
There was a lawn care crew that came through our site right at dinner time. They were polite but had really poor timing.
Our Golden Eagle Pass should have given us a discount but, as they labeled the cabin site as a group camp, it wasn’t eligible? Even though there were only the two of us.
We would stay there again but will be better prepared.

Our stay was excellent in every way. The campsite was raked and clean. The campground hosts, Allen and Janice, greeted us and answered any questions we had throughout our stay. We liked how the long weeds and grass were cut around the boat parking docks and shore. They are such a mess in our boat when long. Bathrooms were clean. We love having access to a washer and dryer especially when we’re there for 2 weeks. This is our favorite Army Corps campground!
