We stayed here for just one night before our BWCA entry date. Clare, at the Sawbill outfitter was very helpful and nice to work with. The sites are amazing.

Sawbill Lake Campground is such a great, accessible way to introduce kids and newbies to the BWCA. There is an outfitter with the kindest, friendliest owners who can supply anything you need (or forgot). Day trips for paddling, lovely hiking trails along the lakeshore, and wonderful campsites.

Sawbill is a well-managed campground, with convenient water and toilet availability. Campsite was litter-free.

This is a lovely campground. Sites are well-spaced and private. The pleasant surprise is that, although we had a reservation, many wonderful sites were non-reservable and vacant on the Wednesday that we arrived. The campground is managed by Sawbill Canoe Outfitters, so renting equipment for canoeing on the lake is convenient and easy. The employees are all friendly and helpful. This is a great location for day trips into the Boundary Waters. Thirty minutes back down to Lake Superior offers a day back into civilization and golf at Superior National.

The online reservation system is a joke. I needed to cancel a reservation and it was an 80 minute wait to speak to someone. That’s the absolute worst service imaginable. How much has been cut by this administration? How bad must it be that someone can’t answer a phone. Horrible service.
