Decent little campground, but the owners made it hard to relax. Constant micromanaging, nitpicking, and rules for everything. We were corrected repeatedly over small things while simply trying to get set up, and there were warning signs everywhere — even about not disturbing the gravel while leaving.
The owners were moving our belongings on our site while mowing. Near the end of the trip, our daughter’s site was apparently double-booked and they were pressured to leave early even though there were multiple open sites available.
If you just need a place to park, it’s fine. But the atmosphere felt more stressful than welcoming.

What started as a friendly check-in quickly turned into an unpleasant experience. The owner initially circled local attractions on a map and offered suggestions, which I appreciated. However, the tone shifted when I was scolded for not having cash and for not reading the website in detail — despite having called ahead to confirm availability. The fact that only cash or check payments were accepted was never mentioned over the phone, which caused unnecessary tension. In 2025, it’s surprising that a business wouldn’t have a credit card processor.
At $45 per night for basic water and 30-amp hookups, the price felt high considering the simple layout and rather dated shared bathroom/shower facilities. Wi-Fi was also quite slow. Based on my experience (and reviews from others), it often felt like the owner was overly watchful of guests.
When a friend arrived to pick me up for a hike, she was approached before even reaching my RV and questioned for not registering. While I understand the importance of knowing who’s on the property, the owner’s confrontational tone — including remarks like “Can you not read? There are signs all over the entrance” — was unnecessary and discourteous.
To the owner: I recognize you’ve likely dealt with difficult guests over the years, but respectful communication goes a long way. This will be a one-and-done stay for me.

Stay a month here in Aug- Sept 25. A great place for a base of operations running up along the North Shore or down to Duluth! The owners are hands on and keep the the grounds spotless! Bathrooms & showers are always clean & tidy. We had a great stay here and will stay here again when passing threw!

So to clear up the negative reviews. First
, read between the lines. Appears to be those who want to “misbehave” or just don’t like rules; then they whine about how terrible they were treated. So sad.
Check out Hollie’s whining poor me review 🙄🥸
Pennie run a great campground. Clean, well laid out, organized. Met by Pennie and escorted to our reserved site, how nice! She took the time to tell us where things were and made sure we got settled in.
The campground is clean and super quiet, which we like (yup, there’s a little noise from the road but that’s to be expected given the proximity to highway 61). Really didn’t bother us at all. The campground is close to Two Harbors as well as Duluth and to a multitude of outdoor activities.
We could see Lake Superior from our camper.
I’d have no qualms about staying there again.
Thanks Pennie (and her very helpful husband Stan) for a nice few days.

This place is a hidden gem, It is not a fancy place, but it is clean and well cared for. They can easily accommodate and large rig, and the sites are very wide. Grass is in great shape and they are All pull throughs. The management is friendly and helpful. They know all of the Best places to go see in the area. Bathrooms and showers are outdated, but they are clean and maintained and are functional. I have seen many newer RV parks in worse shape. The prices they charge are very reasonable. I would definitely come back here next time we are in the area
