Purely by chance we ended up at Choctaw Lake. We had intended on staying at the Jeff Busby campground on the Trace parkway, but it was full. When we rolled into the Choctaw campground, it felt like driving into a postcard. Beautiful, quiet location with multiple trails to hike. Gorgeous lake with fish and boating access. Though, I’m not sure if motorized boats are allowed. You may want to check that before you show up.

We loved this place so much that we ended up staying an additional 3 days. We we able to take our dog on just about all the hikes in the area. Did I mention that it is gorgeous there??

Besides the lack of maintaining the disc golf course and some basic trail maintenance in some spots this place is a gem. Campsite hook ups were functional and the site itself was level with lantern hanger, awesome fire pit and grill and a large picnic table to boot. The lake has a nice trail around it and we saw more than a few fishermen from the shore and in boats. Great time of year as well. Camp host was friendly and had the place looking swell.

Love Choctaw Lake campground. Beautiful place and Campground host Danny Parks is a treasure. One of the cleanest and most peaceful places we have been. Hope to have many more adventures there in the future!!!
Only downside is no sewer hook ups.

We liked camp site #20. The camp host was very nice. The only thing that prevents me from giving a higher ratings is the showers or lack of. There is only one shower each for men and women. They utilize push buttons to turn the water on and off and the water temp is not adjustable.
The campground is well kept and most sites are shaded.
