What Guests Are Saying
South Abutment Campground is praised for its clean, well-maintained sites, peaceful atmosphere, and quiet surroundings, making it an ideal getaway for relaxation. Many visitors appreciate the spacious, paved sites with full hookups, and the area's natural beauty, despite some concerns about low water levels in the lake. However, issues such as occasional power outages, outdated bathroom facilities, and a lack of staff presence have been noted.

Beautiful park, nice level , paved sites. Hernando is about 18 mi east, plenty of restaurants, Kroger Grocery & auto parts store. Desoto Museum is nice, gives the history of the area since 1541. Horn Lake is about 22 mi north for all your big box store needs. Bass Pro Shop at the Pyramid in Memphis is a must see.

The campground itself is nice. This particular campsite is under a GIANT LED light that really kills the camping vibe. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone in a tent, who wants to enjoy an evening fire, or look at the stars.
This bright LED is entirely unnecessary.

Everything was great. Grass was cut and bathhouse was clean. Park rangers came by to make sure everything was good. Safe place for the kids to run around and play. 5 STARS!!!
