The last day we was there we stayed on Site 76. It had a bad breaker so we couldn't even stay in the camper that night. When we told someone about it they didn't act like they cared so we spent $30 for nothing and was never offered a different spot. Other than that we enjoyed it.

Both bath houses were closed and torn down for renovation during our last visit. Only the small handicapped bathhouse was open with only 2 combination toilet/shower stalls available for the entire campground. There was no air conditioning and barely any air ventilation in the building making for an extremely hot and uncomfortable shower experience. Also, dont expect any cell service by any provider at this campground. Otherwise the grounds are ok except for the low lake levels due to the (neverending) ongoing dam repairs.

There were no signs directing us to our site so we had drive through the entire campground to find site 68. There was no one to greet us or give us a map of the campground either. We walked all around the campground to try to find the dumpsters as well. When we arrived a ranger vehicle was parked in one of the spots. He waved but didn't offer any help finding our site. It looked as though many of the sites were long term and/or permanent sites, definitely longer than the 2 week maximum. We were very disappointed especially since the the campground itself is just lovely with nice big sites. Please improve your signage and communication. Also, when we dumped our gray tank, smelly water started to pour out of the cap of the septic next to our site. The water ran to the back of the site where there was a large, puddle/swamp from the overflow.

I’ve been camping at this campground for years. I do not understand why they decided middle of summer to tear down two of the bathrooms and bath houses only leaving two toilets and two showers for this whole campground

This is a nice well-kept Campground. I can’t speak for the bathroom facilities as I never went in them. The lake has been drained for sometime as they’re doing repairs to the dam. Apparently, it’s supposed to be a while before it’s fixed. I was wondering what they’re gonna do about all the vegetation that is grown over the waterline. when I looked it up they were about to start helicopter spraying. What a mess!

From I-55, take the Hernando, Mississippi exit and turn west. Continue to to HWY 51 and turn south. Turn west on Wheeler Road and follow signs into campground.
Hernando Point Campground is accessible from I-55 via the Hernando exit, approximately 2 miles away. From I-55, travelers can reach HWY 51, which is also nearby.

General
- Visitors are expected to be aware of park general rules
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reminds all visitors that coast guard approved personal floatation device is required when conducting activities on or in the waters of Arkabutla Lake. These activities include but are not limited to swimming, waterskiing, riding on personal watercraft, kayaking, and other boating related activities. If vessel is under 16 feet in length a PFD is mandatory at all times. If vessel is over 16 feet in length, PFDs are only required while making way under main propulsion.
