Dub Patton Campground

Warning

General

Arkabutla Lake will be experiencing substantially lower water levels for an extended period of time. Long-term repairs to Arkbabutla Dam must be completed before water levels can return to normal. This affects boating access and water-based activities on the lake. Many boat ramps are currently closed with Hwy. 51 Landing being the only open ramp. Most day use and campground facilities remain open for public use. For more information, please contact the Arkabutla Lake Field Office at 662-562-6261 or 662-292-1992. For a full list of all affected areas and facilities as well as to get information on what's going on at Arkabutla Lake, please visit our project page at https://www.mvk.usace.army.mil/Missions/Programs-and-Project-Management/Project-Management/Projects/Arkabutla-Project-Page/

Arrived and site was very unlevel. No attendant on site to help me move and spent over 45 minutes on hold with Recreation.gov with no answer. I can't believe we are forced to deal with this pathetic monopoly for the majority of OUR public lands.

We stayed at the tent site at the end of the loop. It has an absolutely breathtaking view - especially at sunrise! Even though the lake does not have water, there is no shortage of beauty here. The birds singing in the morning are so loud and beautiful! The only problem that we had was that the bathhouse lost power every time that it rained. But with flashlights and battery lanterns, that was no big deal. I will ABSOLUTELY book this spot again!

Bathroom and shower facilities were good, but could use some attention on the doors. Trails are not market well at all but the quiet and openness is nice.

We absolutely loved our time here. We spent a month here, and the area was absolutely peaceful and beautiful. Lot 21 will make you feel safe and you can watch the traffic go by all day. Unfortunately, we will not be back because our RV caught on fire and was gone in 7 minutes. Once we get another camper we will absolutely be back for another adventure!

Sites are not level. When you step outside your RV, it is downhill. Campsites have not been cleaned. Fire rings full of trash. No park hosts seen in campground.

Quiet spot on the water. Even though the lake was socked in with fog in the morning, the birds were active and a morning delight.

To us the biggest plus was how friendly the staff was. A smile and friendly words go a long especially for newbie campers, like us, who are unsure of just about everything. We also observed the grounds to be in nice condition. All in all a very welcoming experience.

The campground is VERY WELL HIDDEN!! The directions on recreation.gov are (sort of) ok but I arrived just after dusk and it was difficult to find the campground especially with the closure of a couple of the roads. Luckily, my site was just across from the washroom and the site number was quite obvious.

The lot was ok. Couldn't ever use the men's shower because the heat was never on. Had to go to the truck stop every couple days to shower. A waste of money to rent lots without shower's. When I asked if they could turn heat on, I was told they'd have to ask supervisor. Even then the heat wasn't turned on.
