South Abutment Campground is praised for its clean, well-maintained sites, peaceful atmosphere, and quiet surroundings, making it an ideal getaway for relaxation. Many visitors appreciate the spacious, paved sites with full hookups, and the area's natural beauty, despite some concerns about low water levels in the lake. However, issues such as occasional power outages, outdated bathroom facilities, and a lack of staff presence have been noted.

Large amounts of pine needles, leaves etc. around picnic table/fire pit area. Obviously the site had not been cleaned for some time. Bathrooms were not clean, bugs everywhere.

Nice site, except for the fire ants.

Had a problem with ants; even though we only stayed 1 night, they set up camp. 7 days later, still finding them. The sites in the area hadn't been cleaned in what looked like a few weeks. Old cigarette butts around the site, and there was other trash on the ground. The only staff we saw just did a casual drive-by but never got out to inspect a recently departed site. I picked up trash around our site enough too fill a grocery store plastic bag. Very disappointed.

Site is not close to level. Had rust or mud in the water supply. Circuit breaker tripped with no a/c on. Took a while before breaker would reset

Being severely disabled because of breathing difficulties handicapped site 57 is ideal for me. I most enjoyed the enlarging of the lake. water actually came into the valley and got very close to the campsite. They had to let water out again. Contractor is on the dam making repairs. I am 71 and hope I live long enough to see the lake full. Would be able to fish from that campsite. That would be really cool for someone like me that can' walk very far.

We live locally so we know that the lake is not accessible right now, but if you’re just wanting to get away and relax where it’s nice and quiet, it was a perfect spot to go. I cannot read the facilities because we didn’t need to use them, but the areas were all very well Kept and not grown over. We will definitely be booking again for our little staycation.

Site was short for a large camper
Would be ok for 30 ft or less
Lots are fairly narrow does have full hookup and rest rooms if needed
Only 50 minutes south of downtown Memphis
Very quite

Great site, no barking dogs, no loud music, no kids running through your campsite. That's all I look for when camping
