Long-term repairs to Arkbabutla Dam must be completed before water levels can return to normal. This affects boating access and water-based activities on the lake. What Guests Are Saying
Hernando Point Campground offers a charming escape with spacious, clean sites and beautiful views, especially along the river. Many guests appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, well-maintained facilities, and the friendly staff, making it a great spot for families and RV owners. While the lake is currently dry due to repairs, visitors still enjoy outdoor activities like walking and fishing in the pond, and they look forward to future improvements.

We stayed the last two weeks of March. During this time we had no contact whatsoever with anyone from the campground. During a bad storm / tornado event the local Sheriff came around to make sure we moved from the lakefront to a safely location (an EF-2 touched down within 6 miles of us), but no-one from the campground checked on us at all.
Compared to North Abutment, this location felt a bit run down and not as well cared for. Hiking trails are marked on a notice board, but are completely impassable.
Cell service is very limited on the waterfront and non-existent further back.

Most of the campsites are nicely spaced out. Phone service is weak and internet almost non-existent on Verizon. Showers were decent. Good location if you are looking peaceful setting and not feeling closed in.

If your ready to not have a campground host, stay here. If there are hosts here their site(s) are not marked as such. Campground is open to public driving through at all hours of day and at speeds I felt wee not safe with kids around. On the plus side: all sites are FHU, most are spacious. Check out Crossroads Seafood Restaurant in Hernando. Excellent!!
