What Guests Are Saying
Delta National Forest offers a peaceful camping experience with beautiful surroundings and abundant wildlife. Many campers appreciate the spacious sites and the availability of firewood, while some have enjoyed successful fishing trips. However, several reviews highlight the need for improved maintenance, including better signage, trash cleanup, and repairs to roads and facilities, as many sites are experiencing neglect and accessibility issues.

Enjoy the campsite, we stay here every year. The one thing I missed this year was our picnic table, I assume the flood washed it away.

The directions on the Recreation.gov website led us down a long dirt road, with a 20ft travel trailer in tow. After several miles we came to a large Road Closed sign that looked like it had been there a long time. Fortunately we were able to find a place to turn around.
After another 45 minutes of driving we had looped all the way around the forest. The road into the campground area was not marked. On the maps, it looked like a farmer's access road to his fields. We gave it a try, ready to apologize for trespassing.
When we got to the campsite it was obvious that it had not been used or maintained in a very long time. Overgrown, lots of sticks and debris on the site and an unusable picnic table covered in debris and moss.
We like adventures, but this was ridiculous. I'd expect that the posted directions would have been correct. We wasted 90 minutes just trying to find the campsite. This could have been really bad if we had had to backup for miles with a 20ft camper.
All in all, not a good experience.

We took our horses and our tent and spent a few days exploring Delta National Forest. This is a very flat forest with huge trees. I dare say they have some of the largest Persimmon and Cypres trees I have ever seen. There are many trails, but they are very muddy from the 4 wheelers. You are better off taking your horse and getting on the edge of one of the many sloughs or just going a wondering in the forest. Its some wonderful sights to see. Our campsite had a fire ring, picnic table and lantern post. The firewood we collected would not burn, be prepared to go deep into the woods to find some wood. We took our dogs and they had a wonderful time !
