What Guests Are Saying
Frank Russell campground is highly praised for its clean, spacious, and well-maintained sites, including level concrete pads with full hookups and ample room for privacy. Visitors appreciate the beautiful surroundings, well-kept trails, and facilities, making it a favorite for camping with horses and enjoying outdoor activities. While some noted issues like noise from neighboring sites and the need for more on-site staff, overall, guests express a strong desire to return and recommend the campground for a relaxing experience.

The new full hook-up sites and concrete pads are awesome! Thanks Army Core of Engineers for a much needed update.

The sites were very nice and brand new! The park has beautiful trails and a pond in addition to access to Mark Twain Lake (small trails, no docks, with sharp rocks).
The Archery Range is amazing.

I don’t think campers should be allowed when we horse riders only have 7 spots and camping trailers have huge sites to go to …..Love Frank Russell and glad they barred the drunk with Rottweilers and all his cussing and threatening people!

Only thing missing from this campground is a play ground. We had four kids camp with us this weekend, that was the biggest thing they wanted, looked for. The Camp ground it always nice and clean.

We love Frank Russell but we wished there was a play ground. Camp Ground was clean.

Beautiful spot. Excellent campground improvements. Even though some pad entries are sloped, the pad is relatively level.

Beautiful Park. I was told it was just renovated and reopened. We stayed for 11 days as a last minute due to a problem with another area we were in. Hookups in the rear of the pad, which was nice. 50amp would great with 3 acs going most of the time. Concrete, level pad with firepit, picnic table and pole (I assume for trash). Bugs were wild this week and chiggers got me. My fault. Camp hosts were wonderful people, checked us in after we got to our campsite. Tmobile worked fine.

We were happy with the campsite we selected. Electric hook-ups, Water & Sewer. Wish there were more trees, for privacy and campsite division. There was nobody on duty to check us in, even though we arrived during kiosk, “Staffed,” hours. My husband walked back, later, to try and check in, as I am disabled and unable to walk back; STILL nobody available for check-in, (Still during, “Staffed,” hours. There was a sign on the side of the Kiosk that said if nobody was there, someone would be around to check campers in… nobody ever came around! In the morning, when we left, and had no, “Yellow Tag,” to place in the box. Anyone could have just driven into this campground and taken a campsite! There’s nobody staffing this campground, doing check-ins/outs, overseeing general safety or cleaning up; it could have used a mowing, as well.
