About Indian Creek (MO)

Indian Creek lies on the northern banks of Mark Twain Lake. It is the largest campground on the lake with 215 standard campsites, plus additional non-electric and tent-only sites. The lake is named for the beloved writer and humorist, Mark Twain, who was born just south of the lake in Florida, Missouri.

We stayed in Indian Creek spot #032. This site was not ideal for a tent setup (no level, flat spots), so we setup on the gravel pad and were not able to stake down the tent. The bathrooms were wet and OK. The firepit had an excess of ash and ashes were dumps all around the fire pit. The site has great views and there is a lake access trail the runs along the camp site. Overall we had a great time and love the large camping sites at Mark Twain Lake park!

Camped out for MOGA. Very nice camp grounds. Plenty of geocaches around for finding. Fall colors this time of year are very nice. Close to Monroe City if you need to drive in for food or other basic supplies.

We have camped at Indian Creek MANY times. The best thing is the size of the sites, you do not have someone right by you. Much more privacy than most campgrounds.

It was easy to sign-In at the gate. all the paper work was already there for us. There's a lot of work getting started with online sign-in, but now that we have the problem solved; things should go smooth for future reservations.

It's a shame there are no more first come first serve spots. The regular campers snap up all of the week end reservations leaving only Sunday through Thursday sites available for the entire season. This stops families from taking even a week long vacation. You'll need to go somewhere different. Other than this, it's a wonderful place in the woods.

For a Class A motorhome, the sites were not level enough. The Host helped out and found one that was suitable.
