About Indian Creek (MO)

Indian Creek lies on the northern banks of Mark Twain Lake. It is the largest campground on the lake with 215 standard campsites, plus additional non-electric and tent-only sites. The lake is named for the beloved writer and humorist, Mark Twain, who was born just south of the lake in Florida, Missouri.

It is a great place to stay. Check the hours of the Mark Twain birth place, I have yet to make it there during the business hours.

We've been going here 35 years. Love the new bathrooms. Our site still had a smoldering log in the fire pit when we pulled up. We frequently have to clean our fire pits when we come so my husband always comes prepared with a shovel and a bucket. We never did see an attendant for our 3 night stay. Our site was not very level but we used enough blocks to get there and had a nice glimpse of the lake. Pretty quiet the whole time we were there and nice weather.

The campsites were specious and spread out from each other. This was very nice. The marina was very close, we rented a boat to go fishing and they have the BEST Ice Cream!! Everyone we talked to was very friendly and helpful. Ticks are bad this year, be sure you have Deet!

Our experience at site 63 was very nice. Was maintained well, except for the fact that the Sewer Construction was not completed at the discharge port. The dirt was not leveled off and gravel put back in making it uneven and muddy. The park was very well maintained and able to have a good relaxing time.

It's a beautiful campground but it seemed like it needed some upkeep such as mowing, cleaning out the fire pits etc. Also, there was a huge problem with thrips and we ended up with MILLIONS of bugs inside our caper.

the park is still very nice but tents and pop ups beware of east campground they took 4 bathrooms out and only put 2 back makes no sense.also we finally got a fish cleaning station back i hope there not finished yet because its not very practial especially for those with big catfish

The campsite was not clean, the fire pit was full of ashes and we had to clean it out. There was never a host on duty when we checked. We never received a car pass or camping permit for our site.
