What Guests Are Saying
Sutton Bluff Recreation Area is praised for its great campground, especially for ATV enthusiasts, with direct access to trails and a beautiful natural setting. Many visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the respectful behavior of fellow campers, despite some issues with facilities and the absence of a camp host. While there are concerns about maintenance and missing amenities like a wastewater dump, overall, the area remains a favored spot for camping and outdoor activities.

We have camped there several times. We have a newer camper this trip and were supposed to stay in site 26. We could NOT back in to our site. We are long time campers and my husband has excellent backup skills. The road was barely as wide as the truck and camper with significant drop offs on both sides. And the roads did not seem well taken care of. My husband ended up with the front of his truck off the road and we ended up with a hole in our camper. We saw the campground was mostly full and did not see any available sites (with water and electric) that were any better to back up in, so we had to leave and drive back home. Since it was just a 2 night stay, we didn’t even cancel the 2nd night after spending 10+ hours driving to/from campsite. We probably will not return to this campground.

If you’re looking for a peaceful relaxing weekend this is not the place to go it is always crowded with loud off-road vehicles that circle the park at all times of Day and night.
On the other hand if you’re looking for a fun and exciting weekend riding your side-by-side or four wheelers there are many trails and fire roads to traverse.

We always have a good time at Sutton’s Bluff. The park this year (2022) didn’t have a host but most people were quiet and respectful. There are always those that abuse the toilets and showers by leaving a mess. The Rangers show up every day to check on things. The Black River of course has no faults! Always there, always beautiful, always waiting for you!
