Peoples Creek is highly praised for its beautiful, clean, and quiet campground, with well-maintained facilities and friendly staff. Use to camp here a few years back but had gotten away from it. We came back to rethink our memories of camping with our family here. Things were upgraded and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. To us peoples creek lower level is absolutely the best.

Nice, clean park on the creek giving good access to the boat ramp and swim area. Most sited are paved, so they are nice and level. 50Amp is nice to have, too although I didn't need it.

We have had our family reunion at Lake Wappapello every year for decades. For the past two years at Upper People's Creek. RV Campsites are pretty level and full hookups. Roomy enough for RV and an added tent. Only issue I ever have at the lake is chiggers so I have to stay out of the grass.

Old Timers beware, they DO NOT bring your tag for your campsite and vehicle to you anymore. We were told 8 minutes before the booth closed we had to go get it. They have always brought the tag to us along with lake information pamphlets. Kinda felt like we were disrespected and that we were trying to get a free night or something as they followed us all the way to lower Peoples check booth. Then when I got to the check booth, I was told that the dog had to be on a leash because it was reported she was running all over the campground. My dog is always on a leash connected to a chest harness. Now the campground attendant had dogs getting out and going all over the campground. This upper peoples location has really changed this year. I was ready to leave after day 1 of our trip. Doubtful I will return.

Existing day use shelter reservations may be cancelled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers if the facility is closed due to flooding, elevated security threats, maintenance problems, etc. Reservations may also be cancelled when the reservation conflicts with large public special events that would negatively impact a private event at the shelter. For these reasons, customers should consider an alternate date or location in the event a closure is necessary. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. |
