The winter marked xc trail, is impossible for intermediate skiers while hauling gear. There are too many gully's to go in and out of. The gate needs to be plowed to in the winter.
The wood rounds that the seasonal employees have cut are too long to fit in the wood stoves. We barely had enough wood short enough to get through 2 nights.
The lantern is not working.
The cabin and bathroom were very clean.

It was a very nice cabin. I would love to see the rest of the cabins onsite refurbished. It would be something amazing to see those old building come back to life. Lots of wild flowers were blooming while we were there and we saw a hurdle of deer living in the meadow below the cabin. Proximity to Bozeman is the best.

Lovely spot and cabin. Well fitted out and wood supplied. However past users have left it very dirty and scraps of food have been left in the pantry for the rats. There was lots of nighttime rodent activity. The cabin needs a good clean out and the it would be perfect.

We really enjoyed our stay at Battle Ridge Cabin! The cabin is easy to access from Bozeman and if you forget something you can just take a quick trek back. The cabin, fire pit, out house/vault toilet, and grounds were very clean. I was surprised there was a small assortment of plates and condiments available in the cabin. Some people had also left us some water which was great because there is not a stream near by to get water to put out the fire. Recreation.gove says there is stream, but in August the water table must be too low and it was not easy scooping water the first night. Otherwise the fire pit was cleaned out and no old wood remained. There was also a rather large supply of wood at the cabin for us to use. The bunk beds (being what they are) were comfortable and sturdy. They squeaked, but who cares. And holy cow, I was surprised at how well the cabin holds heat at night. Even though I was born and raised in Montana I hate the cold and this was my first overnight experience in the woods were I wasn't freezing. The cabin comfortably sleeps 4, with a couple of cots you could easily get 6-7 people in the cabin. Parking area spacious enough for 4-6 large trucks. Also there is a fence around the cabin because herds of cows wander up and get rather close. They didn't seem to mind the dog much. We will definitely be going again!
