About High Rye Cabin
High Rye Cabin is a quaint place to stay, ideally situated for exploring the northern Fleecer Mountains. An abundance of recreational activities are available in this
scenic area.
The cabin was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps around 1919 and is located in the historic mining district of German Gulch. It was used as an administrative
site until the 1940s, when it was opened to the public.
The cabin can be accessed by vehicle; however, during the fall, alternative resources may be required to reach the cabin. Guests are responsible for their own travel
arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.

Rented this cabin for hunting in late November. Everything you need in a rustic cabin to get out of the weather. Wood stove with plenty of good, dry firewood on hand to keep warm at night. Even our cabin mouse was polite.

Great get-a-way place. Very cozy and scenic cabin. Fairly close to lots of things to see and do, Butte, Georgetown Lake, Phillipsburg, Gem Mountain Sapphire Mine. We had a great time.

To our surprise, the cabin had been freshly painted before we arrived. The outhouse was ultra clean and odor free. Our Husky loved having his own bunk bed. We brought our own pans, but there were plenty of them hanging on the wall. We'll be back.

Getting There
From Butte, travel west on Interstate 90 for about 12 mi, to exit 211. Continue about 3 mi south on Highway 441. Turn left onto Forest Service Road 82 and travel 4 mi south to the cabin.
Maps may be purchased by calling the Butte Ranger District.
Highway access
High Rye Cabin is accessible via Interstate 90, approximately 12 miles to the east, with the nearest exit being 211. From there, Highway 441 leads south for about 3 miles before reaching the cabin.
