Holland Lake is one of our Favs! Such a beautiful, clear lake. The hike to Holland Falls if a must do. It’s just over 3 miles out and back

Trying to just get a reservation is madness, the system is broken.

Campgrounds well groomed and clean. Camp host friendly and informative. Beautiful location. My only request would be to trim the branches on the trees that hang over the road around the campground. Kind of hard to avoid them with the 5th wheel height.

The campers on either side of us had barking dogs, crying babies and a portable speaker going well beyond the quiet hours. Holland lake used to be such a quiet and serene place but no more. We talked to the camp host the next morning about all the noise and he said he talked to the load group next to us multiple times but clearly that was ineffective.

Holland Lake is a beautiful camping destination. There are two Loops you can choose from. The Bay Loop is at the same level as the lake, while the Larch Loop campsites are up above the lake and require a short walk down to the lake. The campsites all have trees that provide some shade during the day. They do allow generators during the day but most people really limit their use which is nice for enjoying the sounds of nature. There are plenty of campgrounds that allow people to run generators all day long, so if that is a need of yours, a different campground would be recommended. Throughout your stay you will enjoy the call of loons, deer roaming down to the water for a drink, the sound of the waterfall in the distance, and lots of bird and small animals stopping by to check you out.
For families with small kids, the advantage to camping in Larch Loop is that the water is shallow for at least 50-100 yards, so your kids can stand up and not worry about the water being deep. For adults (however), we have to walk a long way out before the water drops off. In the Bay Loop beach areas, the water drops off right away and is deep much quicker. We have camped at Holland Lake for 20+ years and still feel totally safe leaving our kayaks, paddle boards, and blow up water toys down at the beach for the entire time we are there. I can't say theft never occurs, but in my years of camping here, it has never happened.
Make sure you take time to hie to the falls. Going in the morning or evening would be my recommendation, to avoid the afternoon heat. It's well worth the hike and the hike is relatively easy.
