Lovely spot on the bank of the river. However, BLM pumped the outhouse next to our camp creating a horrific smell as it was not done properly. One of our group worked for FWP and knew the smell was from not adding 50 gallons of water to the outhouse tank. We used a 5 gallon, bucket and added the 40 gallons and the smell went away. Without our friends knowledgecit would have been unbearable. P

The BLM suddenly canceled the reservation system for this campground. They said they would still honor our existing reservations. However, when we arrived at the campground at 8pm, another party had occupied our site. It wasn’t their fault because no one had tagged the site to indicate that it was reserved. It wasn’t tagged because there’s no BLM staff to do this. There are no campground hosts, so no way to sort this out.
This is one of our favorite campgrounds and is usually very well maintained. However, it is in terrible shape. Bathrooms disgusting with no TP, no mowing, weeds all over.
THIS IS NOT THE BLM’S FAULT. They are usually wonderful and do an excellent job at these recreation areas, but are currently understaffed due to the loss of staff and funding cuts. THIS IS THE FAULT of the current administration and their uninformed, misguided funding cuts. They are destroying our beautiful recreation areas.
