Cliff Point (MT)

Beautiful site on a peaceful lake. The website said that there was running water but there wasn't. We talked to the ranger who explained it was due to positive test for coliform but some how in the middle of a holiday weekend they then hooked up the water. So was it contaminated or wasn't it?

Obviously the reservation system needs to adjusted. While online, Rec.gov, indicated that the campground was full, this was not the case. No shows occupied sites every night, and by as much as 50%. People are reserving sites that they may want, just as an option. I spoke to campers that did show up that were given the reservation as a gift from a friend of employer. There should be a penalty for not using your reservation. This campground is totally booked for the rest of the summer, and I suspect by people in nearby cities that are holding sites as an option or to scalp off to friends. I spoke to one camper who said his employer reserved a site for every weekend this summer. There needs to be rules against this.

I suggest; one reservation per person/yr, three night maximum stay, site must be occupied, reservations for the rest of the year forfeited if a no show occurred, name of the person who reserved the site on the reservation slip with dates.

I realize that this is a small campground, and first come first served, people looking for a site are having a negative impact. A campground FULL sign could be posted after 3:00pm would be helpful.

I was very lucky to have gotten a reservation for the dates I wanted. From what I could see, they were the last dates available for the rest of the summer. It was disheartening to see a half full campground and the reservation system abused.

Another problem was that we met friends there that had their own camper. The site allows two vehicles, but the Ranger said not two campers, because there was no way to pay for the second camper. I question, what is the difference between two parties arriving in vehicles that are campers and two parties arriving in separate vehicles with tents? Parking space is adequate for both. This needs to be more clear on the Rec.gov site and open the payment method at the campground.

I and others camping at Cliff Lake thought that the reservation system was obviously not working. It’s messed up!

Amazing spot very private, quiet and well worth the long dirt road.

Cliff lake is my favorite Lake and we have camped at Cliff point campground before and it has been great each time. It has a spectacular view of the lake.

I don't want others to discover this beautiful place - so we keep it all to ourselves.

Great campground and lake. No trailers recommend past the boat launch area (5 minute walk before campground). Each site seemed to have lakeside views except for 6. The trade off at 6 was great privacy. Lake is beautiful and most sites had stairs down to the beach. Lots of rainbows to be caught.
