Good overnight spot for our needs. Clean and well maintained. Some light pollution at night from homes across the river and no trash pick up were only negatives.

About Madison River (MT)
Madison River Campground is located in southwestern Montana just beyond the banks of it’s namesake river. It is approximately 34 mi south of Ennis and about 45 mi west of Yellowstone National Park. The ten site campground borders a Douglas Fir covered hillside to the back, with the Madison River just across the road, on the front side. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets and drinking water taps are located near each site, along the one-way road. Visitors enjoy fishing, sight-seeing and nearby hiking and ATV trails. Riverview Campground is only about a quarter mile away and West Fork Campground is less than one mile and both are available on a “first come, first served” basis. Campsite 8 can only be reserved 2 weeks in advance. All other sites can be reserved 6 months ahead of your arrival date, with the next day becoming available for reservations at 8 A.M. mountain time.

Great campsite worked perfect for the size of my small trailer. Nice view of the river .water available just a few feet away. The campsite was very clean. Everyone we’ve been using it is definitely taking care of it keeping it neat for the next person. Camp host was very friendly and answered all of my questions. Thanks for the great stay .

Very clean, awesome spot. Easy access to a ton of nature and you got the river right there. Across the river there’s a nice restaurant if you feel like stopping by!

Was going off the driveway length to find a spot, this is a very tight fit for a 36' fifth wheel, plus you have to around and come in the exit to back it up into the spot, it's on quite the hill, with both slides out it didn't leave any room to walk around, good part is it had a second area with a fire pit and table.

Nice campsite that was well-cared for. This site may be suitable for mobile campers, but for those seeking a tent-camping experience surrounded by nature - perhaps you should keep looking. While the river is right in front of you, your view is looking right into the dinning rooms of the fancy homes that line the river bank. Very weird. We bailed after the first night and found something more isolated.

Cross the Old Kirby Bridge (maximum height 12’ 7”, maximum weight four tons) and turn left onto West Madison road #8381. Travel about one mile to campground. When travelling from south or east, turn to Old Kirby Bridge six miles northwest of US 287 and MT 87 junction.

The campground is accessible via US Highway 287, which is approximately 33 miles from Ennis. There are no interstates or other major roads within 25 miles.

Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Wildlife & food storage
- Food and attractants must be stored in a bear-proof manner when not in use.
Site capacity
- Camping is limited to 16 days, and campers must move at least five miles away for seven days before returning.
- Campers must pack out all trash as there is no garbage service.
Cancellation policy
- Reservations may be canceled if not used; failure to arrive on the first night or absence over 24 hours may result in forfeiture without refund.
