About White Earth Campground

White Earth Group Use Shelter is located at White Earth Campground, just east of the town of Winston, Montana, on Canyon Ferry Reservoir. In 1805, the Lewis and Clark expedition passed through this region. On July 22, 1805, Sacagawea recognizes the country and assures the men that the three forks of the Missouri were of no great distance. This news gave the expedition hope in the anticipation of soon reaching the headwaters of the Missouri River.

We have dogs and as requested. We kept them tied up but people kept cutting through our campsite and not only our campsite, but the people we were with. Then complained about the dogs. My mother-in-law was changing and looked out the window and there was 2 people standing in her campsite!

Numerous dogs unleashed running around. Huge Rottweiler in spot next to us. He was leashed but he would lunge and growl and bark every time a person walked by. I was uneasy about walking on the road due to the number of unleaded dogs. I counted 6 at one time. The camp host did not seem to mind the unleashed dogs he drive by several times and didn’t stop. We will not return to this campground.

Amazing vistas! Campground was empty. Bob, campground host was great. No shade which wasn’t an issue when we were there but could be in the heat of summer. One if the best places we camped at

We enjoyed our time there. Would be nice to have a better place to dock boats. The hosts were very good doing an excellent job.

This is our 4th time at the White Earth campground and by far the best experience we have had with a camp host. Josh (I apologize if I got his name wrongs - younger man from TX) was incredible.

He was available when needed, polite and approachable. He kept the bathroom clean and the garbage taken care of.

We host an annual family reunion of about 13 camp sites and swell to about 75 for our big picnic on Saturday.

We will rebook for next year and hope to see Josh back again as well.

We love this little campground! This year the weeds around the campsites near the water were quite high - a little weed eating would have been nice :)
Beautiful weather tho and lots of fun beach time. Thanks for keeping it open for us weekenders!
