I enjoy hiking while in the area. I've learned that the trail that starts at the cabin has a rather small window when it's easy to hike. In the spring as the snow melts the water runs down the trail and makes it a rather sloppy endeavor and there are numerous small creeks to cross. Of course, this also means that you will likely be the only hiker. About 45 minutes up the trail, keep to the left at the first sign and "Y" and there is a cool bridge across Fourmile Creek. There are all kinds of other trails to explore that are very close too. It is a wonderful area and fully enjoy my time while there. The refrigerator is gone, so I brought a small dorm sized one that worked for me, probably should have left it there as I haven't used it since.

Fourmile cabin is a comfortable place to stay along the upper part of the Boulder River. The wood stove works well. The electric stove works well, but it is frustrating to use because the display is hard to read, some of its LED lights have burned out. Written instructions would be very helpful. There is no fridge so plan accordingly. The location is very nice but you have to share it with folks who set up long term RV camping across the road. If they decide to party, it can be annoying. In spite of these things, we keep coming back - beautiful part of Montana.

Disappointed to find no refrigeration and no notice of such. Half the light bulbs were missing or burned out. Lots of food was left in the cabin by previous guests, I think this needs to be addressed as more mice are NOT needed and it would be nice to be able to put the groceries away and utilize the limited counter space. The oven in the stove didn't work either. The fire pit was enjoyed every night and the front porch was also a great place to sit and watch nature. My group was there for a week of sewing and quilting which was enjoyed by all, along with the hikes up the road and down to the river and to the neighboring cabin. How can anyone not enjoy the peace and quiet of the wilderness, the fresh air, the sounds of wind and water!!
