cabin was clean when we got there, yard recently mowed, outhouse spotless, signs of continued improvement of the structure and equipment/supplies. sad to see the tree in front yard gone, taken by a wind storm but in reality taken by years of abuse by guests who allow hacking and chipping away at the trunk which eventually starved the tree of sap.

From Livingston, Montana, travel north on Highway 89 to Wilsall. Just north of Wilsall, turn northeast onto Shields River Road. Continue 8 miles to Porcupine Road, turn east (right) and then drive another 8 miles to the cabin. Four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended due to the road condition.
During the winter, the last two miles of the road to the cabin are not plowed. Skis, snowshoes or snowmobiles are required to reach the cabin.
The campground is accessible via Highway 89, which is approximately 12 miles from Livingston, Montana. From Highway 89, travelers can reach the cabin by taking Shields River Road.
