Woodbine Campground

Quiet, private space, nice places to walk along Woodbine stream. Close to the Stillwater Canyon. Pressurized water to fill our trailer.

We have been coming to this campground for about 14 years and have seen improvements over the years. They have managed to do this without taking away the "back to nature" surroundings which is why we have been staying there. Even after the horrific flood several years ago that all but destroyed Sioux Charlie hiking trail and caused damage to this beautiful campground, it still has the beautiful "untouched" feeling. The camp hosts were available but quietly in the background which added to the natural surroundings. Our campsite was clean and private. Never had a bad experience in 14 years!

The hike to woodbine falls is easy to do from our campsite and so worth the moderate effort. The new bridge is fantastic. Sadly the Stillwater trail is still not completely rebuilt through the gorge but they have completed enough to enable views of the best parts of the gorge. We won't be hiking to Sioux Charlie until the trail is completed as I hate the by-pass trail. Campsites were in great condition and the camp hosts very nice and efficient.

This is a gorgeous campground. Almost full every time I go. Campsite #9 is one of my favorites. Sunset if beautiful by the river.

We were 2 Senior ladies car camping so we appreciated the large bear resistance storage as we made room for car sleeping.
I have stayed many times along the first loop and this was the first on a higher loop with #31 reserved for 3 nights. It sits level with the road, but the whole backside dropped into a valley within the trees making a good visual for anything lurking about. Though we did see bear tracks coming up to the actual camp area, we felt safer cooking with the smells staying much higher than in the line of a furry nose. Very clean facilities and helpful campground hosts, having to assist with a new camp stove and fuel.
Woodbine has so much to offer and you can be out and about all day long or just relax in the spacious and more private campsites.
It takes a mere 1 1/2 hours from Billings MT on a completely paved road even within the campground. A must do is to turn right before the bridge to the campground and walk the path a bit along the rushing water with large boulders forming excellent swimming holes.
Woodbine allowed campfires where most places did not due to a fire ban. It’s been a hard year to find chokecherries but we lucked out here and I’ll have plenty of chokecherry liqueur to bottle up for Christmas gifts!!!!
I have always recommended Woodbine. It is an amazing forested mountain dream with the Stillwater River and great fishing showing what Montana is all about with its beauty and adventure yet not so far from business and bustle.

Great campground that feels a lot more isolated than it actually is. Excellent amenities including a fire pit and picnic table at every site. There is a relatively easy hike along a river that comes to a lookout over the valley and up to a nice waterfall. Lastly, the campground host, Linda, was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Woodbine Campground!

Clean, quiet, safe and fun

Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. Well maintained and clean. We really enjoyed our weekend here. Take the mile hike to the waterfall!

A lovely spot! Camp was clean and quiet (tho it did fill up on the weekend and was a bit noisier). It’s easy walking distance to the river and several trailheads. Sadly, the hosts had a catastrophic fire at their site shortly before my arrival and weren’t available but the concessionaire company did a good job of maintaining the pit toilets. I never had safety concerns and noticed both sheriffs office and MT FWP officers cruising through the camp while I was there. I’d stay here again.
