About Judith Guard Station

Judith Guard Station is a historic Ranger Station dating back to the early 1900s. Designated as a National Historic Site, the cabin is decorated with historically accurate furnishings and wallpaper. It is just a stone's throw from the Middle Fork of the Judith River and a small campground with a picnic area. Mandatory bear food storage requirements apply, with specfic compliance information posted at the cabin. The cabin, located about 30 miles south of Stanford, may be accessed by regular passenger vehicle until snow season. The road is usually plowed within 2 miles of the station, and a four-wheel-drive vehicle can often make the trip. In times of heavy snowfall, the last half-mile to the cabin may require a snowmobile, skis or snowshoes.

What Guests Are Saying

Judith Guard Station offers a cozy atmosphere and beautiful surroundings, making it a great place for repeat visits. While some concerns were raised about cleanliness and water availability, guests appreciated the creek access for children and the overall experience. Caution is advised for families with small children due to fast ATV traffic in the area.

We had another great time at Judith Guard Station. We stayed for 12 days this time, late August-Early September. We enjoyed a lot of 4 wheeler rides on the trails and stayed cool in the streams as the temps were into the 90's. We tried mining for yogo sapphires with no success. The hunting wasn't good this year due to the high temps. The cabin was in good working order for the most part. The back/kitchen door lock and handle are still broken and do not latch on either. We had to lock cabin from outside during the night and keep something in front of it to keep door closed. There were a lot of screens with holes in them too. This cabin is a fun, restored and historic cabin that I would recommend.

Wow! very impressed with how stocked and furnished it was! Friends have a rental vacation cabin and have constant theft of small items. Was an wonderful trip and highly recommend it for others. Played taps on Memorial Day and put up/down the flag.
Only thing that would have made it even more perfect would be able to keep the horses there to.

We had a wonderful time hiking (no snowshoeing because of lack of snow) and playing cards.

Fantastic Cabin, so much history. We luckily booked Sun-Tues. Very limited traffic. The river nearby was such a lovely feature. There is a water pump across the road. Wasn't clean-ish, but its a cabin folks. Outhouse was spotless.. Battery Led lights a lovely addition to add to your bag. Stop nearby at The Blue Nugget for Ice, Beer and great food!!!!! Love this place
