About East Fork Cabin

East Fork Cabin offers visitors a unique chance to camp in the Bitterroot National Forest of southwestern Montana. The cabin takes visitors back to a rustic, old-time setting and provides access to a variety of recreational opportunities on public lands. The site is available year-round and offers additional camping areas to accommodate large groups. An adjacent picnic area and pavillion provides a convenient location for everyone to gather. The cabin can be accessed by vehicle, however during winter months (October through April), alternative resources may be required to reach the cabin. The road is plowed up to three-quarters of a mile from the cabin. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.

East Fork Cabin is praised for its cleanliness, rustic charm, and well-maintained facilities, making it a great retreat from city life. Guests enjoyed various outdoor activities like hiking and biking, and appreciated the improvements in electrical systems for RVs. While some noted the lack of electric lights in the pavilion and occasional mouse visitors, overall, the experience was very positive.

I've stayed here before and continue to enjoy the layout, nearby creek, and overall feel of the place! Road is nearby and is moderately used so don't expect total seclusion and/or quiet. Overall though, great cabin!

Perfect cabin experience. Bring an extension cord if you plan to use the one outlet.

The weather was cold and rainy, so I'm thankful that the previous renters left plenty of firewood and kindling in the cabin. Everyone should do this! Dried-up mouse in a mousetrap, though, plus doggie kibble in the oven broiler pan -- definite mouse evidence. I cleaned all that up, plus took a couple bottles of homemade beer (or something) plus seasoning stuff out of the cabinets. Liquids can freeze! And any food stuff will attract more mice and packrats.

Mice remain a problem but not as bad this trip as last when they were all over the cabin all night. Leaving a light on helped a lot.
