About Bull River Guard Station

The Bull River Guard Station was built in 1908 as the Ranger's house and office. This structure was a primary ranger station from 1908 to 1920, surviving the legendary 1910 fires that swept through the area. The cabin was home to Granville "Granny" Gordon (District Ranger), his wife and three daughters. Full vehicle access to the cabin depends on weather conditions. The road is normally plowed within 1 mi of the cabin during winter months.

What Guests Are Saying

The Bull River Guard Station offers an adorable, cozy cabin with charming old furniture, functional amenities, and a beautiful, peaceful natural setting, perfect for a relaxing getaway. Guests appreciated the historical significance and isolation of the location, as well as the well-stocked kitchen and comfortable accommodations. However, some noted issues with wasps, a lack of on-site water for dishwashing, and occasional mice, but overall, visitors found the experience enjoyable and worth recommending.

Pros:
- adorable cabin, love the coziness, old furniture, the fridge was a plus!
- nature
- sister time

Cons:
- killed 18 wasps inside the cabin while we were there. 10 were originally inside when we arrived. We kept the doors and windows closed, but still had 8 more the next day periodically come in. I got stung once while making lunch.
- there is no water on site to wash dishes. We brought our own drinking water and washed the two pots we used with it.
