Apgar Campground

Great campground, clean bathrooms, great sites, and easy walking to Lake McDonald. What a great place!

Only 1 shower house for all sections of the campground. Best part was within walking distance to
Apgar Village

Nice campground with great walking paths, kayak and SUP facilities. Had a great smashburger at Eddies so there was no need to leave the park for dinner. Good value for the money, especially for those with Lifetime Senior Pass. I’ll be back!

The campground is lovely, at the heart of the forest, which helps keeping it cooler.
Our spot in the loop B was nice but beware there is only a small level spot for like a 25ft RV or trailer (max!!), the rest is a huge slope down where you won’t get anything level and won’t be able to park your RV. You could park the car in the slope.
The spot is very close to the bathrooms.
We had enough signal (Google Fi / AT&T) to use basic internet. The evening programs at the amphitheaters (7pm) are great.

Tent village experience is unfortunately dependent on those who camp around you. A few years back I had a nice quiet experience. This year kids running screaming and crying, cars idling all morning… not so quiet.

Good base for exploring west part of Glacier.

We stayed at the Apgar Campground for three nights, and it was a great base camp for activities in Glacier National Park. The volunteer rangers were helpful, cheerful, and informative, including our camp hosts Mickey and Carol. We also attended programs every night in the amphitheatre and learned a lot from them. Our sight was clean and well-organized. The nearby bathroom had a power outlet that didn't work and I had to do some creative maneuvering to get out of the toilet stall because the door opens inward.

We arrived by train with only backpacks, so the bear-proof food lockers were a godsend. Also, the rangers did a good job enforcing food safety rules with frequent patrols. Overall, we had a very positive experience.

Apgar is the perfect base for Glacier adventures. Many of the tent campsites have generous space and we were able to put up 2 tents - including 1 SUV tent in the driveway. Our bathroom in loop C didn’t have soap, bring your own. All sites were occupied, but we were the only people using the communal bear box 3 sites over (car open due to SUV tent). The showers (3 or 4 total) are located in loop A for the whole campground. We went for showers around 5pm on a Monday and waited 5-10 mins. We had 1 bar Verizon cell service at our campsite and the Visitor Center wi-fi was slow, but worked.

Great campground, well maintained, clean bathrooms, easy access to the park.

Note: Read the site descriptions because some of them are adjacent to the road and if you are bringing an RV, the door may open to the road.

Its in a great location and the sites are a decent size. Overall it was a good stay, buy some of the facilities are a huge inconvenience. There are only 3 showers for the whole campground and they are all located in one building in one spot, so the furthest loops have to walk a long ways and then wait in line for the showers. Also, there are really limited places to wash dishes/dump dishwater.
