Amenities were really limited. Only 4 showers for the entire campground, which were about as far away from our Loop as could be. 2 of the 4 were closed for maintenance while we were there. Also no dishwashing facilities in camp or bear boxes in each site, as are common in Yellowstone and Grand Teton.

We camped at Fish Creek loop D, site #166 for 3 nights. The site is quiet, right on the creek and an easy stroll to the lake. I loved it! A short drive to Apgar Village made it easy to get supplies and eat out. The food at Eddie's Cafe was great. I didn't give it a five because of the shower situation. There are 4 showers located in Loop A for all 176 campsites, but 2 of them were out of order. Compare to the 2 nights we stayed at Waterton Lakes where they had 2 or 3 bath houses in each loop, 7 showers in each. (3 men and 3 women plus one handicapped with a huge walk -in/roll-in shower) Our much loved parks need more funding!

Lake McDonald is gorgeous. It’s a big enough campground to have everything you need, but also quiet enough that we didn’t have trouble falling asleep.

The campground was very close to the river for fishing and close to apgar village which was nice. Large shaded campsites were nice as well. But the bathrooms were closed in our loop with no repairs insight and replaced with Porta potty’s. We had to walk quite far to another loop to use the bathroom. There were also only 4 showers, 2 of which were broken, for the entire campground.

I had a really good experience on this campground the only downside and complain I have is that only two showers out of the four shower were working and as a result of it
It created chaos at night when everyone wanted to shower.

Washrooms were closed for the whole loop C. No dishwashing stations. Shower is only in loop A.
Loop C sites are not properly leveled - it is problematic to pitch a tent. I could think this loop is intended for RVs because of pull-through sites, but still very unlevel and I am sure problematic with RVs.

We stayed in A20 and I was so nervous prior to our arrival because the spot information showed 21’ as the limit for the vehicle and trailer together. Our trailer is 19’ alone, so I was nervous we wouldn’t fit not fit. We ended up fitting just fine, thankfully! Directly across the stairs that goes down to the lake and close to the bathrooms. Some people don’t like being that close to the restrooms but honestly it wasn’t bad, not too many people walking by and it wasn’t loud. Such a beautiful spot, and grateful we were able to stay here.

Access to the lake, close proximity to the village, ranger led evening talks, a sky viewing party nearby at the visitor center, warm showers, recycling center, helpful gray water/dish water dumping station, clean surroundings, and the campground has so many Western Larch trees that must be incredible in the fall... what more could you want? The sites are a good size and most, if not all, have pull-through parking with space for at least one car to be level. The campground sits inside the park but outside the new timed entry boundaries. Will absolutely be back.
