About Twin Lakes Cabin (MT)

Twin Lakes Cabin is located in a scenic evergreen forest in the Beaverhead Mountains of western Montana. It was built in the 1920s to provide housing for trail crews, smoke chasers, timber cruisers and grazing inspectors who worked in the area. Guests have access to a number of recreational opportunities, including hiking and mountain biking in the summer and fall, and snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing during the winter. The cabin is accessible by vehicle during the summer months, and until the snow closes the road. Guests may need to hike, snowmobile, ski or snowshoe up to 12 miles when the access road is closed. The cabin is equipped with a variety of amenities to provide an optimal outdoor experience; however, guests need to bring some of their own supplies and gear.

What Guests Are Saying

Twin Lakes Cabin offers a beautiful, remote setting with stunning views and great skiing opportunities, perfect for those seeking solitude. Guests appreciate the cozy atmosphere and the quiet of the area, particularly when visiting during less busy times. However, access can be challenging due to snow and distance from parking, and some amenities could use improvement.

Cabin is a great little getaway, but assuming there is a lantern since one is listed was a mistake. Good thing we had head lamps, but didn’t allow for much indoor enjoyment. And whoever stayed before us didn’t clean up after themselves. But all in all it was a great trip

The Twin Lakes Cabin has an amazing view, and is 20’ from the water’s edge but is also very close to the other campsites. The fishing was mediocre, small cutties, the larger fish were clearly numerous but not rising for flies or interested in nymphs. The road to the lake is long and rough but you’re not going to get lost. I liked that the cabin had a skylight and big windows. There’s a bunk bed for two and modern cots for another two to sleep on. Rodents not a problem for us. Overall it’s a good cabin that needs a bit of work to be great.

This cabin is amazing! The views alone are incredible and add a cute little cabin, paradise! The cabin is cozy and comfortable. The lake is so beautiful with the mountains in the background. Plenty to do in the area between hiking, water activities(non motorized), mountain biking and just relaxing. Cabin is in the campground area. The campground is amazing too! Quiet area and clean. (Please keep it that way, be respectful, pack-in and pack-out. Preserve our public lands.)

This place is not for the faint hearted. It had mice, the weather was often foul, no cell signal, no water, dark interior, bring propane and water!
