Twin Lakes Cabin is located in a scenic evergreen forest in the Beaverhead Mountains of western Montana. It was built in the 1920s to provide housing for trail crews, smoke chasers, timber cruisers and grazing inspectors who worked in the area.
Guests have access to a number of recreational opportunities, including hiking and mountain biking in the summer and fall, and snowmobiling, snowshoeing and
cross-country skiing during the winter.
The cabin is accessible by vehicle during the summer months, and until the snow closes the road. Guests may need to hike, snowmobile, ski or snowshoe up to 12 mi when the access road is closed. The cabin is equipped with a variety of amenities to provide an optimal outdoor experience; however, guests need to bring some of their own supplies and gear.

Twin Lakes Cabin offers a cozy, remote getaway with beautiful lake views and excellent skiing opportunities. Guests appreciate the peaceful solitude of the area, especially when the campground is quiet. However, accessing the cabin can be challenging due to snowy roads, and some visitors note the presence of wildlife and the need for extra supplies like batteries and toiletries.
Beautiful place. Great setup. Was able to drive within 6 mi before thanksgiving. Skiing around the lake is great. Bring D cell batteries for lanterns; they die and aren’t propane. We had headlamps and luci lights, all worked great.
This is a very remote place, it's easiest to get there via snow machine and then ski around from the cabin. It would be so nice if people were more mindful of the peace and quiet of the place and aware of the critters are present and not feel the need to rid their snow machines virtually everywhere. Also it seems people feel the need to tear up the place with snow machine tracks, which changes the experience for some people. The cabin is cozy. Its wise to bring a few extras like TP and paper towles, maybe a few dishes and batteries for the electric lantern. The mice often are there.
