Echo Bay Campground

Excellent place to stay and getaway. Very clean and beautiful spot.

Campground was quiet. A little bit outdated. Dump station and water before the campground.

We ended up not staying in Echo Bay Campground. When we showed up, our campsite was occupied by someone else. In fact, the adjacent campsite was occupied as well, where Recreation.gov showed it was available. Due to the size of our trailer, there were only a couple of campsites in the campground that could accommodate us. So two campsites were getting occupied by people not paying for their campsite. There was no camp host on duty, nor could we find a park ranger anywhere in the area. We lost our camp fee. Not sure if we will come back to a Recreation.gov campsite ever again.

Would have been nice to have a camp host onsite.

Great place to star gaze

There was someone camping in our reserved spot.

No campground host, no cell coverage, and no maintenance. The upper campground is beautiful and closed, the lower campground is totally ignored with no cell coverage. Why not open a section or two of the upper and close the lower? There would be a lot more people willing to stay if the upper campground was opened for use. I won't be back unless it is.

The site was great, clean, price was reasonable, etc. The problem was at 9:am, maintenance employees of the park came by to do maintenance. We were in the process of finishing breakfast and checkout was not until noon. The employees said they were going to fix a small wash out - a couple feet wide by a few feet long near the edge of our camping area, but not interfering with our use. We were traveling on motorcycles and they were parked in the middle of our parking area within the camp site. We were told that we might want to move one of our motorcycles so that they could get their trailer backed in without hitting it. This was a utility trailer containing rock & dirt for fill of the void. Another employee suggested it was going to get dusty, right next to the table where we had been sitting and it still had our food and gear sitting on it. There was absolutely no need to fill this void at that moment. We would have likely left in the next hour or two. it wasn't worth making a scene so we quickly grabbed our things and just left. There were only a few camps that were occupied in the entire section of the park so it's not like it needed to be repaired quickly for the next guest. Well done.

This is a hidden gem. We only found it because we needed gas and there was a sign on the highway indicating gas.. It's about a 4 mile drive to it and it works the old way.... go inside and pay.... So if they're closed (I think they close at 3), no gas. Anyway... the campground was awesome. Spacious, great views, clean, flush potties... quiet. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Oh...if interested-- very spotty cell service. But who needs to be connected when you have those surroundings.. :)
