We love the location; the nighttime sky when it is clear outside is spectacular; all the stars are visible and the view goes on and on...
We want to also add that our Camp Host Ed was very helpful, cordial, and available when we were visiting. Our kudos to him and to the way he has maintained the site overall. It is a very neat, clean, and functional site and compares favorably with other campsites we have visited in New Mexico. We plan on returning again soon!
We appreciate the well-marked hiking trail over the lava bed, however it looks like the signs on the hill with the overlook are getting faded and could use replacement/upgrade.
Overall, we had a great experience and this site is at the top of our list of favorite campsites.

When choosing a site keep in mind some of them need significant leveling.

This place has so much charm and really interesting landscape. It was a halfway point between OKC and Tucson. We did some hiking and the bathrooms were super clean and warm!

Decent campground with clean, spacious bathrooms and showers. Only negative was the tent pad at our campsite (site 18) had been removed and turned into a driveway. This info wasn’t in the site description when we reserved the site so when arrived, we were stuck with no tent pad even though we planned to use a tent.
