Host and visitor center staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. Sites filled daily while we were there in late March. Bathroom, showers & vault were all very clean. The sites are somewhat close together, but we didn't feel crowded around the back on Observation Hill. Lower loop is more sheltered from the wind, but no trailers or large RVs allowed. We extended our stay by moving to a first-come site, but the intense wind finally encouraged us to move on.

Fantastic campground. Fabulous vistas. Great access to the lava fields. By nature, very windy. Excellent visitor center and shower/restrooms. The campground host, Daniel, was extremely helpful. The location was our base camp for visits to the Trinity Site, Three Rivers Petroglyph Site, White Oakes ghost town (check out the No Scum Allowed tavern), White Sands National Park, Holloman AFB and Roswell. Many geocaches in the area too. Will be returning to this campground.

Very nice, private sites. Enjoyed the hiking opportunities. Bathrooms were clean, easily accessed and the showers were a welcomed option.
