We’ve visited multiple times and always enjoy it although the weather was quite chilly this time. The views, the walkways and the staff are always top-notch. It is in the middle of nowhere so plan accordingly. The restrooms were vandalized by local youth when we were there so facilities were closed for repairs. I hope the sheriff has a stiff punishment for vandalizing our public parks.

Reserved ahead for RV, spring break. Site 17 and 18, no hook ups, requires leveling. Site was clean. Used main showers, absolutely wonderful!! First night, another visitor advised he had booked and paid for our site, we exchanged reservation details and turns out they double booked. He was only staying the one night in his car so we shared the space. Last day we traveled to White Sands and upon return someone had set up camp in our site, again we had to confirm reservations and asked them to move. This would be the only downfall no clear communication or policing on what is booked and what is not, luckily everyone, for the most part, was amicable. Otherwise for the price it’s a good location for white sands, capital VLA and other areas. The volcanic trail inside Valley of Fires is amazing. In warmer weather watch out for snakes they’re everywhere!

Great smaller campground and a really unique area. Never saw the camp post but everything was clean and well taken care of. The visitor center is staffed by a lovely lady who had lots of local information. Would definitely want to stay here again as a camper or an RV traveler.
