About Jemez Falls Campground

Jemez Falls Campground is located in a stunning Ponderosa Pine and forest meadow environment. The campground elevation is 7,880 feet above sea level. Come prepared for warm days and cool nights.  The Cerro Pelado Area closure prohibits members of the public from entering Trail 137 from access points South of the East Fork Trailhead. Entry is allowed North from the East Fork Trailhead to Las Conchas Trailhead. Please remember that this campground is special. Help keep it clean and beautiful by using the trash dumpsters. Campground has 52 camp sites with picnic table and fire ring. Paved access which allows trailers and RV's up to 40 feet.  For the 2022 Season of Use, loop 4 sites are non-generator use areas. Loops 1-3 may use generators from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. There is paved access from the highway and paved internal roads to individual campsites. There are no RV hook-ups. Drinking water is provided from spigots conveniently located throughout the campground. Vault toilets provide basic sanitation needs. A campground host is on duty.

Spacious, clean and tranquil campsites. We enjoyed hiking local trails and visiting Valle Caldera.

Love the campground!!! This is our 3rd time staying there. The only problem was someone took our spot the first night. He said he did not know it was reserved because the sign was not up to date. The camp host did put us in another spot for the night.

We love Jemez Springs. Campground was very clean but it looked like the trash dumpster had not been recently dumped. Otherwise—perfect!

For the most part we enjoyed our stay at this campground, however, the restrooms were the filthiest I have ever seen. We only went once before deciding we would have to find bathrooms elsewhere. There were hundreds of flies and feces everywhere. Our neighbors were also extremely loud with people screaming on the top of their lungs and generators running late into the night. The scenery was beautiful and our site was large and shaded, but because of the aforementioned issues it could’ve been better.

This is a lovely peaceful campground especially the loop that does not allow generators. However it is poorly managed by rec.gov. First of all there is a service fee on top of the daily fee. Why not just increase the daily fee by a dollar or 2 instead if needed to cover the maintenance costs? Seems fairer and much less complicated. But worst of all is the cancellation policy. Unlike most campgrounds there is NO REFUND FOR CANCELLATIONS. So about 20% to 30% of the campsites are empty when there are people who would love to be there on shorter notice. Most of the rec.gov campgrounds that I go to email me prior to my arrival and give a full or at least a partial refund if I need to canceled. PLEASE CHANGE THIS RIDICULOUS POLICY so that more people can enjoy our wonderful national forests!!!

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
