About Jemez Falls Campground

Jemez Falls Campground is located in a stunning Ponderosa Pine and forest meadow environment. The campground elevation is 7,880 feet above sea level. Come prepared for warm days and cool nights.  The Cerro Pelado Area closure prohibits members of the public from entering Trail 137 from access points South of the East Fork Trailhead. Entry is allowed North from the East Fork Trailhead to Las Conchas Trailhead. Please remember that this campground is special. Help keep it clean and beautiful by using the trash dumpsters. Campground has 52 camp sites with picnic table and fire ring. Paved access which allows trailers and RV's up to 40 feet.  For the 2022 Season of Use, loop 4 sites are non-generator use areas. Loops 1-3 may use generators from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. There is paved access from the highway and paved internal roads to individual campsites. There are no RV hook-ups. Drinking water is provided from spigots conveniently located throughout the campground. Vault toilets provide basic sanitation needs. A campground host is on duty.

It's a good spot in the Jemez. When I visited someone else was setup in the site I'd reserved and the host was off duty for the day. Picked another open site in the "no generators allowed loop" as a replacement ... RV the site over ran a generator through most of the evening. In summary, great location, in my experience the campground itself was ran poorly and occupied by disrespectful people.

Beautiful campground. The bathrooms were clean. It was wonderful having drinking water. If you’re tent camping, as we were pick your campsite carefully. Mainly RV’s and Fifth Wheels with some generators going during the day. Hike to Jemez Falls it is easy and worth it! Have fun!

This is a quiet, beautiful campground where camp sites are nicely spaced among tall pines so that you are not "on top of each other." We regularly spend a few days here 1-2 times annually. The Falls parking lot is a short drive (1/4 mile?) or easy walk to the trailhead to a short trail to an overlook of the falls, or for the more adventuresome a trail down to the falls themselves. Other trails are available also, plus points of interest in easy driving distance from the campground. Pit toilets are well maintained. Most years drinking water is available at various locations throughout.

We enjoyed the campsite and the hike to Jemez Falls. We were there for Monday night in August and the campground was sparsely populated.

Nice campground with large sites. Close to the Caldera and Bandolier, both worth visiting. Also nice hikes from campground and an almost hot spring.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
