About San Antonio Campground

San Antonio Campground is adjacent to the San Antonio River, tucked into a forest of ponderosa pine at 7,600 feet above sea level. This popular campground is open from May through October in the Santa Fe National Forest. Visitors should be prepared for hot summer days and cool nights. San Antonio Campground was completely rebuilt and reopened in August 2010. It is designated as a reduced impact and recycle campground.

Excellent spot. Great camp hosts. Mostly quiet neighbors. Campers follow the rules. Sad so many people drive in to dump their trash that do not camp there. Will definitely be back.

The campground couple, James and Rita were outstanding. They visited us upon our arrival, and gave us valuable information. They swung by as we were leaving to check on how it went. Great job!
The Group Site is perfect, shelter, fire pit, running water, just wonderful.

The campsites are beautiful and really well maintained. Good design keeps it from feeling crowded, even when full like it was when we were there. Only negative was the really stinky bathrooms! We would highly recommend this campground, lot's to do in this area a short drive away.

Over all the camp site was clean and well take care of. The only issue was the smell from the toilets. They need to be pumped more often.

I was at site 9 for 4 nights. This site is great for a tent and has a lovely backyard overlooking the creek. My neighbors were very polite about turning off their generator and the other sites are far enough away that the RV generators were not a concern, thankfully. The camp host (Tony?) was super and very friendly. Bathrooms were very clean and always had TP. And, unlike the Pecos campgrounds, the water was on! Te morning and afternoon commutes of diesel drivers on 126 was audible but not invasive. Amanda's Store at 126 and 4 is very accessible. I highly recommend San Antonio CG. I like it better than Jemez Falls CG because it's smaller and quieter, closer to services, and very pretty.

I think the camp hosts have made this a great campground again. However I wish we could go back to the days where the gate was kept closed and you would have to open to come in. This would deter all the random people coming in. Everything is by reservation only so you know to open if you have a reservation. Not everyone reads the sign after they drive in to see that. There are so many shady characters driving through which is really unsafe especially when they aren’t following the 5mph speed limits and they have no reason to be there because it’s not a first come first serve campground. Unfortunately we live in a world where not everyone has good intentions and the campground should feel like a safe space.

This campground was a great experience for our group of friends and family. The creek was perfect and had a lot of places to fish or get in the water for the kiddos. The campground host was incredibly attentive and gracious. I would recommend this campground for anyone looking to get away for the weekend and not have to travel too far away from Albuquerque. The bathrooms were also very clean and well stocked.

  • Online reservations are payment for two vehicles MAXIMUM; that includes the tow vehicle or RV and one additional vehicle.
  • This includes the use of generators (No generators during quiet hours).
  • Before making a reservation for a campsite, check the details for driveway length to see if your vehicle and equipment can fit on the site.
  • No dump station available at this campground
  • Firewood is not available for sale at the campground - dead and down wood in forest can be picked up for firewood. Please do not cut live standing trees or branches.
  • Charcoal only in pedestal cooking grills
  • Maximum vehicle length is 40 feet, please check each site for specifics.
