What Guests Are Saying
Gallo Campground at Chaco Canyon offers a beautiful, serene experience with well-maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and potable water. Campers appreciate the stunning night skies and the opportunity to explore significant historical sites with fewer visitors. While some campers noted issues with noise from others and a lack of privacy between sites, the overall atmosphere is peaceful, and many look forward to returning for another stay.

The hosts were wonderfully helpful, the site is beautiful, and UNLIKE so many other "rec.gov" CG where you have to drive all day only to find "CG FULL" because NO RESERVATIONS are taken and it's only FF we knew before driving for an hour from HWY 550 that we actually had a campsite!!

A stay in lovely Gallo campground allows a longer opportunity to visit the canyon which is truly amazing under bright stars. So grateful that leashed pets are allowed on the backcountry trails.

Gallo Campground is a great place to stay if you want to visit Chaco Canyon. The tricky part is that to get there you have to drive a 13 mile long dirt road that is VERY bumpy. But, once you're there it's a great spot. The campsites are not very private, as the vegetation is low-growing, but that's ok because it is such a beautiful spot. Surprisingly for such a remote location, the bathrooms have running water and flush toilets.

We loved that there are archaeological sites right on the campground. The views and sunsets are very nice, too. The sites are closely spaced but not to the point of being a problem. We were at the Far East end of the loop and directly downwind from the neighbors campfire. That was the only issue we had -pretty minor. The description is not kidding about the last 3 miles of the road being rough. Pack your RV accordingly 😀

All around great campground but I gotta say the coolest part was that my campsite was right next to some ruins. So cool!
