Advertised as having a water hookup. There was indeed a spigot at the site, but it didn’t produce any water. Also, there were signs around stating that the water was non potable. The campground appeared to be neglected as infrastructure was aging and some areas blocked off. Electric did work, but there was only 30 amp. Dump station was okay. Might be nice if you’re into water activities (but not swimming). Road into the campground was rough.

Really enjoyed my short stay. The campground roads are a wonderful walk with all kinds of birds.

There was no water for the hook up and no water in the bathrooms. The showers were locked. There was no park ranger at the station and no host at the campground. There were other campers that were ignoring campground rules, the had their dog off leash, they were drinking alcohol, and they played loud music until 2:0 in the morning. We left a day early, not worth staying. You might as well close this campground since it has no services at all.

No water, no showers and they locked the bathrooms and recreation.gov was zero help in letting me change campgrounds. Top 5 worst developed campgrounds ever.and I camp alot.

It was good, the campsite was clean. There are no trees so I don’t recommend going when the weather is really hot if you are tent camping. The shelters provide a little relief, but that’s about it. It was otherwise pretty standard. The amenities are not new but everything worked and I personally didn’t have any issues. Not all campsites have grills, and campfires are not allowed. Luckily we had a little stove to use. The campsites are just a short walk downhill and there are plenty of little spots to hang out around the lake. The views are beautiful.

Its a run down site, showers and water dont work, area full of trash. Dont know why anyone would want to stay here.

Good - the water was on, the bathrooms were clean and functional, and it was a great view. Bad - the campsites were overtaken by huge ants, goatheads, and some other weeds with very tiny burs. We are still finding those tiny burs in our house from the trip. There's also no natural shade. If you are in a camper, it probably won't be much of an issue, but we were in a tent. Also, there were people coming and going it seems like all hours of the night, so lots of talking and headlights. And if you plan to come here to get away from fireworks for 4th of July (like we did, for our dog), there were a ton along the lake, and they seemed to go on all night.

From Albuquerque, New Mexico, take I-25 north to exit 264. Travel west on State Road 16 to the Tetilla Peak Recreation Area/La Bajada Village turnoff and follow the paved road into the recreation area.
Tetilla Peak is accessible via I-25, with exit 264 leading to State Road 16, which continues to the recreation area.
Elevation: 1692 feet
