Tetilla Peak Campground offers stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a great spot for those seeking tranquility in nature. Many visitors appreciated the spacious and well-maintained campsites, as well as the good water supply. However, there are notable concerns regarding the outdated and poorly maintained bathhouses, as well as issues with road conditions and a lack of on-site management. Despite these drawbacks, many campers expressed a willingness to return, valuing the campground's serene environment and affordability.

Tetilla Peak was a peaceful stop. The sites had relatively new power pedestals, but most of the campground looked like it needed an uplift. Water pressure and quality was good. There was a good dump station. While it didn't affect us, bathrooms were not open the whole time we were there. Not sure what tenters did. There was no host, and rangers seldom came through. The long road to camp was rough pavement with many potholes.

We love this campground. It's got spacious sites and it's peaceful and beautiful. The only drawback is the fact that there's no or not enough staff to keep weeds out of the sites. The other issue would be the potholes in the very long road getting to the campground. Plan on taking your time getting there.

No hot or warm water for shower. Only cold which was colder than the lake water. Otherwise camping was OK.

Very nice, out-of-the-way campground. The access road is paved but has many potholes near where it meets the highway, however you can navigate a car around them. As of May 23 the showers and toilets were working but the sinks were not yet opened.

Quiet and peaceful. Power worked great, water connection leaked the entire time. Dump station worked well enough, but trash was overflowing. Place is dated and needs refurb. Bathrooms were locked in late May. Road getting there is horrible. Rough and full of potholes.

The campground was very unkept! When I got there I thought it was abandoned. More people arrived later for the weekend. My selected campsite was supposed to be a pull through. It was a back into. I was there for 4 nights and seen one officer drive through. Except for some kind of emergency down at the dock. And I didn’t feel safe there.

While Tetilla Peak Campground has an excellent view of Cochiti Lake from the east side, the access is more remote than Cochiti Lake Campground. Not a problem, just be aware. It's a 10-mile trip after you turn off Highway 16 onto Tetilla Peak Rd. The campground is rustic dirt/gravel roads, but our site was clean and fairly level with a shady ramada over a stone table. There are water spigots at each site with good pressure and our site (#16) had 30A and 50A power available. There is also a restroom/shower building with actual flush toilets (not pit). Campground was quiet, a very good dark-sky environment and it seems to be not as much in demand (reservation-wise) as Cochiti Lake. There is also lake access and boat ramp at the campground. We will definitely return!

From Albuquerque, New Mexico, take I-25 north to exit 264. Travel west on State Road 16 to the Tetilla Peak Recreation Area/La Bajada Village turnoff and follow the paved road into the recreation area.
Tetilla Peak is accessible via I-25, with exit 264 leading to State Road 16, which continues to the recreation area.
