Black Canyon Campground offers a beautiful, well-maintained environment with clean facilities and friendly hosts, making it a favorite among visitors. Many enjoyed the peaceful setting, abundant wildlife, and proximity to Santa Fe, with ample hiking opportunities. However, the lack of water access and some maintenance issues have been noted as drawbacks.

Excellent location close to town but still in a lovely forest. Nice large campsites.

Why is there no water? I camped here many times between 2000 and 2017, and it is a wonderful campground, when there is water!

We really enjoyed this campground. It is very clean and just the right amount of space and facilities. We liked having a trailhead within the campground, too. Accessibility to the beautiful aspen trails further up the road was a nice surprise for us, too.
The only negative you can't control is the rainy conditions didn't allow us to sit outside much at night.
We hope to be back someday.

Electricity or a dump would be nice.
Beautiful canyon. In the fall continue up the road to the Aspen grove.
