Second year coming to glamping tents and those are really nice IMO as long as you bring extra covers for warmth. Bathrooms need to be uodated to regular shower heads and should be without having to keep pushing for a hot shower. Showers barely worked and mens room had a heat lamp but women's bathroom had a closed switch as in removed so female bathroom near site 73 did not work. It was 38 so that would have been a great glamping experience. It was also the second time we had to listen to shooting and dogs barking late into the night. This time we asked about all the commotion to find out hunters with tons of hound dogs and yelling like banshees were inside the camp hunting raccoon guns going off where campers camp. Very dangerous. I understand one time but both times? Hunting is allowed in certain areas so that just isn’t something we likes to listen to. Personally I feel for the price bathrooms could have been in better condition and more private. I did find a bathroom in a different area that was more private with a heat lamp next morning. But the shower head drizzled. The staff seemed very friendly though. Unsure if I will ever come back there to be honest. They had warm to warm hot water. Other than that it is in a forest and fall was nice. My advice is to have better control of hunters coming in willy nilly illegally (and sounded drunk as all) to keep campers safe. Stray bullets dogs and middle of the night didnt give me the best feeling.

Policies & Rules

General

  • Limit 6 people and 2 passenger vehicles (no trailers or travel trailers) at each site. Read site dimensions and driveway dimension carefully as some sites may only accomodate a single vehicle.
  • This site does not allow for an additional camping unit. There is not enough room to accomodate personal trailers, pop-ups, RV units, or 5th wheels. Any person arriving with a reservation for a glamping site hauling aforementioned equipment will be asked to park the equipment off site for the duration of their stay.
  • Group parties or special events are not permitted. Be aware that quiet hours begin at 10:00 p.m. Gate closes, but is not locked, at 8 p.m. and opens at 8 a.m.
  • The power units have approximately 1000Wh (12.0V, 1,000Ah). They are excellent for recharging phones, laptops, and tablets, illuminating small lights, etc. They are not intended for heavy uses of heaters, large fans, cooking equipment or other heavy electronics. Units cannot be recharged quickly (once the power unit is drained it takes 18 hours to re-charge), so guests should use the power available conservatively. Charge times for various devices are located on the units and if damage or impairment of the normal operation of the unit occurs guests will be liable.
  • Due to the natural outdoor environment and the fabrics and canvas of the tent, as well as comfort for future guests, we do not allow smoking inside the tent or on the tent porch. Please also be considerate and remove dirty/muddy shoes or boots on the tent porch.
  • Pets are allowed on-site. Dogs must be kept on-leash or contained and supervised for the duration of your stay. Dog fences are not allowed in the campground. Pets are not allowed on the beach.
  • Campground hosts are available to glampers, and their sites are clearly marked. Hosts are present to provide assistance and guidance to visitors at any time.
  • Fires are only permitted within established fire rings. DO NOT burn material which could contain metal objects such as nails, screws, etc...
  • No personal boats are allowed on the lake.
  • This campground is managed by Naventure.
  • Don't Move Firewood. Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
  • Swimming area open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Memorial Day to Labor Day.
  • Lake Powhatan is located in black bear territory. Visitors are expected to keep all smellable items locked away inside a camper, vehicle, or provided bear box. Visitors who do not comply with this rule may be asked to vacate the facility due to an increased risk of public safety.
