Lake Powhatan offers a fantastic location near Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway, with well-maintained, private campsites and friendly staff. Campers appreciate the beautiful, serene environment and the variety of outdoor activities available, including hiking and biking trails. While some noted issues with the swimming area and occasional noise disturbances, overall, guests had a positive experience and expressed a desire to return.

Campground is as quiet and peaceful. The employees at the gate couldn’t have been nicer, gave us directions to our site. Site was perfect for us, plenty of room for vehicles and tents. We had a very relaxing time and hiked a few trails in the campground and along the lake, it was beautiful. Bath houses were kept clean and well stocked. Would definitely come back!

We had a great stay at Lake Powhatan in the Big John Loop. There’s lots of space between the camp sites and the area is heavily wooded. There is a fair bit of elevation change throughout the campsite, though.
The biking/hiking trails were close by, which was perfect for us.
