Lake Powhatan offers a fantastic location near Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway, with well-maintained, private campsites and friendly staff. Campers appreciate the beautiful, serene environment and the variety of outdoor activities available, including hiking and biking trails. While some noted issues with the swimming area and occasional noise disturbances, overall, guests had a positive experience and expressed a desire to return.

Nice park. Very clean and well maintained. Front gate staff is awesome, especially Deedee. Trails were fun to hike. Camp spot 96 was a nice pull through but a little tight getting out because of the placement of the metal bear box. Hope they move it back to make pulling out easier.

We camp here often as it's close to home and we can get a quick weekend away. This review is for this weekend and site only. The site needs some TLC. It appears the electric box was replaced recently however the water leaks and the sewer was cracked. It's frustrating to pay for a full hookup site and have to live out of the tanks and not be able to dump without rigging the sewer.
The site itself is probably not a great fit for bigger units. I pride myself on being a very competent back in person, however this site is more of an S than a true one turn back in. we have a 37' 5th wheel. It worked but be patient and have a spotter as there are trees on all sides.
The hosts were friendly. The campground was clean. The bathhouses are showing some age but clean.
There is zero connectivity. This is true with almost all the sites there. I am surprised they have not considered adding ant kind of WIFI.

Such a great campground so close to all of the activities and attractions near Asheville. You can do day trips for tourism or e joy the trails and creeks right there.

We loved the location, it had tons of hiking, swimming and had local business near by. The staff was very friendly. We will definitely be camping there again.

The camphost and staff at this campground are very nice and helpful. This site was large enough for our suburban and 23' camper trailer. It was level. The only downside was not having water and sewer hookup but the bathouse was very close by so it made up for the inconvience. The campsite is gravel based. It was close to others, not very private and several times people would walk through our site because they could not figure out where the trail was to the bath house.

Really helpful and nice campground hosts and staff at this campground. We always love coming here and will return. Our campsite 041 was great. It was mostly level and clean. There was a bear that had been seen walking through the adjacent campground (043) a couple of times but we did not get to see it. The area is a bear sanctuary, so be prepared and store your food and coolers either in your car or RV.

Simply a nice campground. Aside from some early morning traffic, it was quiet. We hiked the Hard Times Trail which abuts the campground so we didn’t have to drive. The bear boxes at each site are spacious; we were able to fit a portable blackstone griddle, camp stove, two totes, a roadie YETI cooler, and a soft-sided cooler into this. The campground is well shaded giving relief from the hot sun.
